The mailman delivers letters to the forest animals everyday, but no one knows much about him. He doesn't say much when he drops off the mail and he works from sun up to sun down. Readers get a chance to read the correspondence being exchanged between the animals of the forest, but its not until late in the story that they realize who is writing all the letters. By story's end, the mailman is receiving his own mail and his friendship circle is expanding.Artwork is rich in color and excels at whis [...]

It’s a new favorite picture book story from Susanna Isern and translated from Spanish by Jon Brokenbrow. This lonely mailman delivers mail each day to all the forest friends, although he never receives any himself, until one day. . . Beautifully told in a solemn way: that’s just as it is! But one day something different happens and that has all of us readers smiling. There are delightful parts of the story that are slyly put into the illustration by Daniel Montero Galán if you pay very clos [...]

Gentle tale of a woodland mailman who delivers the letters he forges, bringing happiness and friendship to the forest community. Lovely illustrations.More interesting than the story, this book is published on Stone Paper, a paper-like product manufactured from calcium carbonate bonded with high-density polyethylene. First time I have encountered this substance.

The mailman goes about his route quietly and businesslike. He seems - not lonely, but solitary - until one day he gets a letter in his own mailbox. The illustrations are beautifully done, the light and shadows play off each other to emphasize the mailman's task-driven life surrounded by other animals who are all making connections.

I love this book! The feel of the pages. The colors in the illustrations. The lonely mailman. I love how he delivers the letter day after day. I love the ending. I love the quietness of the mailman & what he does. I love all the animals that figure it out. I love that he is “The Mailman”.

What a beautiful story about a thoughtful, unknown mailman! I wish that the pages were a little thicker - they are so thin and so rich with ink that they feel extremely fragile, and I would love to read this story over and over again.

This book made me tear up, and I desperately wanted to give the lonely mailman a big hug, even though he isn't real. I wish he was real, the world could use more of his ilk.

Not only a beautiful book, but also a sweet, touching story.

Really sweet, (although I've seen a similar theme), the drawings are fantastic, the stone paper pages have a lovely texture, and what colors! A lovely book overall.

Gorgeous illustrations of animals in nature. Cute letters going between the animals and delivered by a special mailman.

This is a beautiful book for both the vibrant illustrations and the story of friendship between the animals. I am not usually a fan of anthropomorphic books, but this one is an exception. I will read this one again and again, and I cannot wait until I can share this in a story time.
