Reason for Reading: Next in the series. This book isn't quite as good as the first one, being much shorter and taking place mostly away from the Yokai Clan's house. Only a handful of the enormous cast introduced in volume one is carried over into this volume as main characters, with small cameo spots from some others. Story wise the plot is wrapped up from book one with the rat-like yokai Kyuso clan. Now the Gyuki clan are after Nura. He goes along with his friends as they go into the mountains w [...]

The First Generation is always amazing as fuck why is that.Literally in all the books I've read though?

I enjoyed this one much more than the first one, I think. The main character has just gotten much more interesting.

*This series is receiving a solid 5 star rating and this review will be placed on every volume for organizational purposes.*Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan, or just titled Nurarihyon No Mago ("Nurarihyon's Grandson", if I'm not mistaken) is something very dear to my heart. For one thing, I have never ever loved something so unconditionally that I would watch the anime in days and read the manga in days. I have loved many, many series, but not to where I actually felt the need to watch and read ever [...]

The Nura book series is what happens when Japanese spirits and monsters create a Yakuza like organization and more or less try to avoid scuffles with humanity. As such although there are some freaky parts and at least some murder (oh and at least one public bath scene) you may be surprised by it only being rated Teen but since theses are not the focus of the series it is not classified to bad. You should read it first to make sure you are comfortable giving it to a younger reader if these things [...]

05 February 2013Nura: Rise of the Yôkai Clan, Volume 2: Rikuo vs. Gyuki picks up right from the end of Volume 1, concluding the Kyuso Clan storyline. The battle was exciting, and I'm really enjoying Rikuo getting comfortable in his Yôkai skin. Personally, I cannot wait for that side to take over because I enjoy the scenes more when he's yôkai rather than when he is in human form. There was one thing that puzzled me with the artwork.(view spoiler)[What's going on with Yura's head? It looks like [...]

My Thoughts:I am enjoying this series a great deal. I was expecting to like it, but not as much as I have been. I'm really looking forward to seeing what comes next. Rikuo gets attacked by yokai fairly often since he is in the position to become the third leader of the Nura Syndicate. However, he still doesn't want to be the Third, at least, not when he's in his day form. In his night form, Rikuo is determined to become the Third. Some yokai don't care what form he can take, they want him out of [...]

Right when I want to abandon this series a chapter like this will happen where Yokai Rikuo rocks! And at least the boy is starting to admit the Yokai Rikuo exists even if only to himself! He still annoys me but you gotta love Yokai Rikuo and how he handles the rat leader, the Sakura bowl and the fire!My favorite frame so far is when Yokai Rikuo and his parade appear in the rat's territory then a few pages later when the parade and the rats clash!A great villain arrives on the scene too (Gyuki)! [...]

this chapter was good. rikuo and his friends go to the the old school bulding to investigate yokai. kana-chan says that its nonsense but kiyotsugu-kun says that is damn sure that yokai exist in this modern day world and there chances that they might be haunting the old school building. and he is quite right

Sedikiiit lebih bisa aku terima daripada volume pertamanya. There's actually a fighting scene here and more acceptable antagonist characters (compared to the previous, not general good shounen standard, heheh).

    • Nura says:

harusnya bakaneko tuh bukan bakeneko hehehe masa kucing kalah sama tikus. kayak tom yang jarang banget menang lawan jerry. suka banget pas adegan rikuo bertukar tempat pas di bawah pohon sakura.

    • Swiftsea says:

Rikuo Nura is a protagonist that draws you close and keeps you close. You begin to think like him, and even come to support him. This 2nd volume definitely increases the pace in this manga and I loved it. -intends to edit further in the future

    • Feather Mista says:

      I loved it.

I'm reading a heck of a lot of manga right now. This one is okay, and bit intriguing, but not good enough to keep reading right now. Maybe sometime in the future.
